The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor
Imagine Ford’s recent success with their Ford Raptor, but now imagine it in full-on Bronco form. It would be the perfect car for the off-road enthusiast who wants to take on Mother Nature head-on.
Ford has announced that they are aiming for orders to begin in the Spring with deliveries beginning this Summer.
More Power
The Ford Bronco Raptor will be powered by a 3.0-liter twin turbo engine with a target of 400+ horsepower. The engine block will be incredibly durable in that it will be made of compacted graphite iron. This is the same alloy used in constructing the Super Duty 6.7-liter Diesel engine blocks.
Upgraded Suspension & Drivetrain
HOSS 4.0 (High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension) is a unique suspension setup offered by Ford for the new Bronco Raptor, and it includes Fox 3.1 live dampers that allow for 13-inches of travel in the front wheels and 14-inches in the rear. The new setup creates almost 10 more inches of width to the Bronco Raptor compared to standard editions not equipped with Sasquatch packages.
To add even more capability to this off-road monster, the Ford Bronco Raptor comes straight from the factory with 37-inch BFG All-Terrain KO2 tires set on Raptor Specific 17/8.5-inch wheels. These are the largest factory wheels available in the segment.
Notably, the drivetrain also gains a Dana 50 solid rear axle, and a Dana 44 front axle. While the steering rack is upgraded to an electric rack like the F-150.
Raptor Body Additions
Just like the F-150 versions, when you see a Ford Bronco Raptor flying by you, you’ll know it. To compensate for the larger tires, and inevitably from the amount of debris they will kick-up, Ford has added extra wide fender flares, reminiscent of desert-style trophy-trucks. Along the top and sides of the hood, you’ll notice aggressive cutouts which are actually heat extractors that allow for added venting of the engine. The grille gets upgraded as well and offers 50% better airflow than the standard Bronco editions.
Arguably more exciting than the other body additions, the Bronco Raptor will also gain fully functional rock sliders that include built-in and removable steps.
Race-Ready Interior
New seats offer more aggressive bolstering to make sure you stay put while hitting ultra-rugged terrains. The steering wheel has been fitted with paddle shifters so theres no need to take your hands off the wheel in tricky or technical situations. The Instrument panel receives a modest refresh with a new Raptor-specific instrument cluster.
