Ford EV Charing During the Holidays

Ford Charging Holidays

The holiday season is a time for gathering, celebration, and travel. For many drivers in the Sacramento area, that means hitting the road to visit friends and family across California and beyond. At Future Ford of Roseville, helping electric vehicle owners travel with confidence is a priority—and Ford’s expanding charging ecosystem is designed to make holiday road trips easier than ever.

Holiday Travel Meets Smarter EV Charging

While most Ford EV owners rely on home charging for daily driving, the holidays are one of the busiest times of year for public charging. Longer trips and increased travel make reliable, easy-to-use charging essential. That’s where the Ford BlueOval™ Charge Network comes in.

BlueOval Charge Network is the largest integrated public charging network in North America, giving Ford EV drivers access to thousands of chargers nationwide—all activated and paid for through a single app. Instead of juggling multiple charging apps, logins, and payment methods, drivers can manage everything seamlessly through the FordPass™ App.

In total, the Ford app connects drivers to 21 different charging networks, simplifying public charging whether you’re traveling through Sacramento, heading toward Lake Tahoe, or driving across state lines for the holidays.

Expanded Access, Including Tesla Superchargers

Ford continues to expand the BlueOval Charge Network to meet growing EV demand—especially during peak travel seasons. Over the past year, Ford has added new partners and expanded access across existing networks.

Most notably, Ford EV drivers now have access to more than 25,000 Tesla Superchargers, including 5,000 newly added locations. As a result, nearly 90% of all public DC fast chargers in North America are now part of the BlueOval Charge Network. This expansion provides greater flexibility, shorter wait times, and more route options for holiday travel.

Plug & Charge: Charging as Easy as Pumping Gas

Beyond finding a charger, Ford is making the charging process itself simpler with Plug & Charge technology. At supported stations, Plug & Charge allows drivers to:

  • Plug in the vehicle
  • Automatically start charging
  • Have payment processed instantly

No apps. No credit cards. No extra steps.

Ford was one of the first automakers to introduce Plug & Charge, launching with Electrify America in 2020 and expanding to the Tesla Supercharger network in 2024. Today, Ford drivers using Plug & Charge enjoy a 99%+ charging success rate, making it one of the most reliable ways to charge on the road.

More Plug & Charge Locations Coming Soon

Ford continues to grow Plug & Charge access across additional networks:

IONNA: Plug & Charge is now available at IONNA stations nationwide. IONNA currently has 1,110 fast chargers live or under construction, with plans to expand to 30,000 chargers by 2030.

Ford Charge: Ford is rolling out Plug & Charge to its network of 1,200+ Ford-branded fast chargers at over 330 dealerships, with full U.S. and Canada availability planned by early 2026.

Future partners: Plug & Charge will continue expanding to additional BlueOval Charge Network partners, including Shell Recharge.

Drivers are encouraged to check the FordPass App to see which nearby stations support Plug & Charge before traveling.
